  • 1920s

    1921 Oct.
    Founded Hiromu Sibata Works in Kanda Sudacho, Tokyo.
    Began manufacturing and selling laboratory glassware.

  • 1940s

    1940 Aug.
    Constructed a factory and glass crucible furnace in Ueno Hanazonocho, Taito-ku, Tokyo.
    Started research on glass melting.

    1947 Mar.
    Began producing Hiromu-brand beakers, flasks, petri dishes and coolers.

    1949 Aug.
    Succeeded in melting "Hario Glass" after many years of research.

  • 1950s

    1951 May.
    Installed a glass-melting furnace in Shirakawa, Koto-ku, Tokyo.
    Established Fukagawa Factory for integrated work.

    1955 Jun.
    Completed the industry’s first tanking furnace for “Hario Glass” with first-grade hardness at Fukagawa Factory.

  • 1960s

    1961 Sep.
    Received JIS certification as a factory for glass tubes, rods and chemical analysis glassware.

    1962 May.
    Installed the industry's first automatic glass tube molding machine.

    1964 Apr.
    Separated the heatproof glass tableware sales division to establish HARIO CO., LTD. (formerly Hario Sales CO., LTD.).

    1968 Jan.
    Succeeded in developing Hario-32 Glass with first-grade hardness and began mass production.

  • 1970s

    1971 Jan.
    Completed Koga Factory.

    Mar.
    Began full-scale operation and production at Koga Factory.

    1972 Dec.
    Succeeded in developing an "all electric melting furnace” through original technology. Started full-scale production using this furnace.

  • 1980s

    1980 Aug.
    Entered the automotive headlight lens field.

    1982 Apr.
    Received the Director General's Award from Japan’s Science and Technology Agency for the "all electric melting furnace."

    1983 Oct.
    Completed the world's first computer-controlled small-lot production line at Koga Factory. Began full-scale production of a wide range of glass products.

    1985 Oct.
    Spun off the Koga Factory to establish SIBATA GLASS CO., LTD. with 300 million yen in capital.

  • 1990s

    1992 Jan.
    Concluded an agreement to provide electric melting technology for borosilicate glass to Vetrerie Riunite S.p.A., Italy.

    1993 Aug.
    Completed a factory at the Shenyang Glass Instruments Factory in China. Relocated HARIO CO., LTD. to its birthplace in Shirakawa, Koto-ku, Tokyo.

    1999 Apr.
    Merged HARIO CO., LTD. with SIBATA GLASS CO., LTD. to establish HARIO GLASS CO., LTD. with 450 million yen in capital.

    Sep.
    Established Hario Logitem (Hario Distribution Center).

  • 2000s

    2000 Dec.
    Received ISO 9001 certification of Koga Factory.
    Relocated the head office to 9-3 Nihonbashi Tomizawa-cho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo as part of the factory’s 80th anniversary celebration.

    2001 Nov.
    Received ISO 14001 certification of Koga Factory.

    2003 Jul.
    Received certification by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of the Nihonbashi head office building (a registered tangible cultural asset) as a valuable national asset.

    2011 Feb.
    Established HARIO Science CO., LTD.

    2012 Mar.
    Established HARIO Korea CO., LTD.

    Nov.
    Merged HARIO GLASS CO., LTD. and Hario Tec CO., LTD. to establish HARIO CO., LTD. with 480 million yen in capital.

    2013 Oct.
    Established HARIO Lamp Work Factory.

    Dec.
    Established HARIO Paper filter Factory in Amsterdam.

    2014 Jun.
    Established HARIO ASIA PTE. LTD.

    Sep.
    Established HARIO Trading CO., LTD.

    Dec.
    Established HARIO USA, INC.

    2015 Apr.
    Established Hario Lampwork Factory CO., Ltd.

    2016 Dec.
